Mixed media, jewelry artist and avid recycler of vintage items, Kecia Deveney, of Lemoncholy’s Studio, joins us here at Tinsel Trading as we transform a metal lampshade using a variety of materials and techniques. Weaving a story using vintage items, our lampshades will become a vessel of memories as we adorn it with old buttons, lace, flowers, trim and found objects. We will start off our journey learning how to solder a charm that will become the focal point of our funky chandelier. You will leave the class with a one of a kind, personally created ceiling ornament to hang over a workspace in your studio, over the vanity in your bathroom, next to a cozy chair in the den or in any other empty space in your home.*
To create your lampshade you will be provided with: lampshade, buttons, lace, trim, glitter, flowers, use of glue guns, vintage
image, use of soldering supplies, glass for charms, wire, various
tools and jump rings.
Students need to bring the following:
a few small doily’s
optional- personal items from your own collection, such as a small photo, mementos, extra lace,
* please note that the class sample is made of a variety of personal items, however, Tinsel Trading is happy to supply loads of trim & embellishments to accessorize & beautify your lampshade. The lampshade will be similar to the one on the left in the photo above. The lampshade is meant solely for decorative purposes.
