Fall/Winter Workshops Announcement!

Starting October 2011, Tinsel Trading Company is proud to announce an amazing selection of workshops taught by talented internationally known artists and instructors.  From lavish costumes to festive home decor, this Fall/Winter Workshop season will stimulate your creative talents as you construct unique pieces of art and home keepsakes.

All workshops have a minimum of 8 students.  4-6 hour workshops include a light lunch.

Summer Workshops Cancelled

Due to extenuating circumstances, all Spring/Summer Workshops have been cancelled.  But there is good news....Workshops will resume during the Fall/Winter Seasons!  The new schedule will be available September 2011.

In the meantime, new Tinsel Trading Company Demos will begin this summer.  Stay tuned!

WORKSHOP ~ T-SHIRT & JEANS, JUST FABULOUS! HAVE FUN WITH FASHION

"T-Shirt & Jeans, just fabulous! Have fun with fashion" 

Be part of the fashion scene this spring in the heart of the Garment District in New York City.  Join author, professional crafts designer & instructor Gabriela Delworth at the Tinsel Trading Company for her “T-Shirt & Jeans, just fabulous! Have fun with fashion workshop.”

In this 4 hour workshop you will learn how to personalize two of the hottest garments in the fashion world: T-Shirts & Jeans. Discover your style… Learn how to layout and create 3D designs using handmade stencils, fabric crystals, glitter and metal lace fashion trims from the exclusive Tinsel Trading collection.

Participants need to bring:

Bring your own {pre-washed} dark jeans and a grey or black T-Shirt. Pre-wash them to remove sizing; do not use fabric softener or dryer sheet.

Optional (otherwise, there will be some to share)

Craft brushes, Crafts tweezers set, Fabric scissors {small and medium sizes}

Sign up with your daughter, friend, Mom, sister, etc.! Share some creative time together, have fun and learn new skills.  Take the runway and show off what you designed!

Come spend the afternoon creating this charming banner made from French ticking, crepe paper, German glass glitter & glorious trims from Tinsel Trading Company!

You will have the option of personalizing your banner with the following colors of crepe paper: brown, cream or pink. You will also have the option of choosing your trim from several colors on the day of the workshop. If desired, you may purchase additional trims from Tinsel Trading’s vast array of vintage goodness!

The following supplies will be provided to each student:

~ French ticking fabric

~ Mat board

~ Jute twine

~ German glass glitter

~ Ruffled crepe paper

 ~ DREAM text

~ Limited selection of trim

~ Cupcakes? Anyone? : )

  

It is suggested that you bring the following supplies to the workshop (otherwise, there will be some to share):

~ 2 pairs of scissors: one for paper & one for fabric

Danielle Muller is a mixed media/paper artist who lives in Long Island, NY with her husband, three children and two cats.  She enjoys creating vintage styled whimsies using many of the antique bits and baubles she picks up during her tag and estate sale excursions.  Her work has been seen in various Stampington publications and can also be seen in the January 2011 issue of Romantic Homes Magazine.  Danielle shares her passion for photography and living an inspired life on her website, The Vintage Dragonfly. WORKSHOP ~ VICTORIAN PARLOUR BIRD

Victorian Parlour Bird

Art instructor, Pamela Huntington, has always been fascinated by the lovely

old Victorian parlor pieces filled with birds, butterflies and other fauna.  Come join her in a workshop where you will learn to make your own faux Victorian parlor piece.  We will learn to make a tree branch using wire, wrapping and adding glitter to make it look old and weathered.  We will add moss, a nest little flowers and embellishments and a glass bird before covering it with a charming glass globe.  The birds may vary. 

The piece with cloche is 11 inches tall.  The inside is about 7 inches.  So, come spend a lovely summer afternoon creating with Pamela Huntington and fellow students in one of the most fabulous and delightful stores in NYC!


Instructor will bring: glass cloche, glass bird, materials for base, nest, tinsel garland, moss, wire and

floral tape and wooden bases.  Tinsel Trading is happy to supply your flowers, glass glitter and other embellishments to make your piece personal.

Students Please Bring:

Intructor will have a glue gun or two, but if you have one to share that would be nice.
